So I acquired some pretty cool stuff last week, all courtesy of my friend Maggie. She always finds me the BEST stuff.
Anyway, my swag, instagrammed (follow me! meaganmccrea):
An Alter Eco chocolate bar:
Dark chocolate with quinoa crisps? That means it’s healthy, right? This chocolate bar was SO GOOD. The quinoa crisps reminded me of a Crunch bar (but wayyy better). I intended to nibble at it all week. It was gone in two days. Maggie said she picked it up at Whole Foods.
You read that correctly, folks. WATERMELON BEER. I’ve seen this stuff around on the Internet, but had yet to find it anywhere around here. Maggie found it in Massachusetts this past weekend, and was kind enough to share a few with me. After having one, I can tell you I’m not sure that I’d be so generous. I’d probably be an awful friend and hoard it all for myself.
And lastly, this epic Yorkie print:
Chloe got caught posing. “Doesn’t it look just like me?”
Every chance she gets, Maggie gets me something related to Yorkshire Terriers. I’m not even sure where she finds this stuff. Thanks to her and my brother, I own Yorkie salt and pepper shakers, a board game, a makeup bag, and a lunchbox. I’m totally that crazy dog lady.
Yesterday was my 26th birthday. I worked until 3:30 and then hung out for a few hours before celebrating.
I also got this adorable birthday card from Chloe.
Yeah, it’s from my dog. WHAT ABOUT IT.
Later, my friend Abbie and I headed out to get our drank on. We went to Ogunquit and started at a new restaurant called Hooks.

Hooks opened this past weekend after much anticipation. It had a cool vibe, with an awesome patio for outdoor seating. We grabbed seats at the bar and ordered a couple cocktails. I wasn’t feeling any of their beers on tap, so I drank some Malibu knockoff and Sprite.
We immediately noticed that there were several people dressed up in full Star Trek costumes. WTF??!! I wanted to ask one of them what they were doing, but I was afraid that I’d get stuck in a lengthy conversation about the Starship Enterprise. I was also unable to snap any pictures because I was too busy gawking and trying to figure out how one guy made his Spock ears look so real.
Another friend met us out a little later, but we left the bar after only two drinks because the guy in the seat next to me was getting a little too friendly. We went to another bar down the street and had a couple more drinks. Sadly, there were no trekkies to stare at.
I didn’t pay for a drink all night, which means that I had an awesome birthday.
Last night I met up with my brother, his girlfriend (& one of my besties) Maggie, and a few other friends for dinner. After much debate about where we should eat, we ended up at Silly’s.
I love Silly’s because they have plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options. They also have all sorts of creative flavor combinations on their menu.
I started off with a Berry Pom Pom to drink, which consisted of Izze’s Sparkling Pomegranate and blueberry juice.
My mouth pretty much hit the floor when our waitress dropped this bad boy off. Doesn’t it look like a giant glass of sangria? Maggie ordered the alcoholic version, which came in a much smaller glass.
To eat, I decided on the “Bio Diesel.”
Mango? Basil? Fried tofu? Sign me up. It came wrapped up in a tortilla wrap. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I don’t have a great picture to show you, so you’ll have to take my word for it.

And the boys…
They think they’re so hilarious.
The 2012 Healthy Living Summit is one month from today!
I’m so excited to go this year as a new blogger. My friend Maggie is coming with me, and we’re both excited to learn some blogging basics (she’s starting a blog too!). All of the workshops on the agenda look great. We’re having trouble deciding which ones we’d like to attend.
I’m also super excited to meet everyone, although I’ll admit I’m also a bit nervous. I’m an outgoing person once I’ve gotten to know someone, but I’m shy in new crowds. From recaps that I’ve read of past summits, it seems as though everyone is welcoming and very friendly. I won’t have to worry about being new or fitting in.
I also hope I don’t look too crazy when I run up to a few of my fav bloggers and ask to have my picture taken with them like they’re some sort of celebrity (in my mind, they totally are).
Are you going to the Healthy Living Summit this year?
Can’t wait to meet you if you are!
My July Birchbox arrived today!
I joined Birchbox a few months ago, and I have to admit that I’m obsessed. Birchbox is a subscription service that delivers awesome beauty, hair, and lifestyle samples to your door for $10 a month. If you like what’s in your box (it’s tailored to you), you can purchase full size products online on their website. No one really had to twist my arm to join, as I: a. practically act like it’s Christmas when I get mail that isn’t a credit card offer. And b. love sample size bottles of anything (Anyone else hoard hotel shampoo? Anyone?). They also have a sort of virtual magazine on their website with video tutorials and trends.
Anyway, I pretty much died when I opened my box today.
A Larabar??!! HOW DID THEY KNOW??!! I honestly would have been excited if this month’s box was just filled with Larabars. I was also pretty psyched for this Stila lip glaze in Lights.
I’m a sucker for lip gloss.
